Kite O Mania .. Fultoo Desi Post !
Nowadays are the days when the guys (desi guys) like me enjoy their evening by
NO.. Not by dating.. by flying .. I mean flying Kites…As this is August and 15th August is coming nearer.. Indian sky is fully filled with colourful Kites…!! Really !!
Birds too don’t get any space for flying !!!
If you don’t know what a kite is.. Don’t worry I’ll explain you fully …
See.. You can start by following the following steps ..
1) Go and have a Kite (AKA “Patang”)
2) Tie up the Kannas (AKA Kanne) .. How to tie..?See below !
3) Have a chadakhri (A cylindrical shaped object having some threads(Maanja) rolled on it
4) Have a good roof ..
5) Go upstairs
6) Reach the roof
7) Tie up the Kite with the Maanja (that thread) ..
8) Jhap Modo ( Give the kite a hug .. take the kite in your hands from the side of ‘kannaas’ and bend the kite )Note:: Not to bend too much or its spinal cord will get broken J
9) Keep the chadakhdi in one hand and Maanja in other…
10) Pull the maanja in order to make the kite go upwards…
11) And give some dheel (Dheel = leave the maanja so that the kite pulls some more maanja towards itself from the chadakhdi )
12) If the kite eats some ‘Jhapp’ (Cant translate ,.. Sorry ..Its commonly known as Jhapp khaana ) … Again give it a hug like you did before…
13) Start again from the step “10” and keep trying till you succeed in flying it up in the sky…
14) So.. Try Try and I am sure you will surely succeed in doing so …
15) When you have completed with your flying of kite , try having pechaas with other kites in order to make the game of patangs an interesting one.. !!
16) Pechaas is the war between patangs
17) There are two ways to handle a pecha …
1) Dheel – Leaving the thread and making the patang go deep in the sky that makes the opponent patang’s thread broken when that comes in contact with the dheeling maanja .
2) Kheench – Pulling the thread with a great power to win the war of pechaas .
18) I prefer dheeling..
19) Once you win a pechaa , cry loudly “AI Booooooo” Just like a potato seller shouts. “Aloo Loooo”

After reading these steps… I think koi angrej ki aulaad ( Some Son of a british man) will also be able to fly kites !!!.. But will surely forget English :-p
Some tips to be followed while flying a kite !!
1) If you are so much light weighted ( In my language – Haddi).. Have 4 stones of 2 kg each so that You fly the kite and NOT Kite flies you !!
2) While flying a kite .. Keep in mind not to have Peche (To know the meaning click) with the birds ..as they are the real rulers of the sky.. they’ll cut your maanja with their sharp beak.. And you’ll be left watching your Kite going away and some other guys stealing it (AKA Kite ‘Lootna’)
3) Not to fly the kite with a saddi .. If you do not to have the pechchaas
4) Not to fly the kites in the rain with metal layered ‘maanja’ .. because you aint James Watt ..!!!
5) While shouting “Ai Booooo” Not to shout so much loudly that every neighbour of yours starts throwing potatoes on you !
Tying the kannas
1) Take the kite
2) Make two holes in the top (one below the 'dandi' other one just above the 'dandi')
3) Make two more holes at the bottom above the 'poonch' one on the right / other one on left
4) Take a maanja or a saddi about 1 meter ot less.. double it and tie on in the top holes and other in the bottom .
5) The kanne shall be done only the work left is just to tie it.
6) Keep the kite on a plain surface and take the kannas in your hands and see from the side .
7) You will notice a triangular shape..
8) Hold it from the top and tie after confirming that you are making both the sides equal .
9) Now if you have tied nicely .. you shall see either
An equilateral triangle
An isosceles triangle with NOT the base as a side equal to any other .
10) If you have finished the tying of pechaas , tie your maanja with them and enjoy flying the kite !!
Some Important Rules !!
1) Not to have flying kites with a ‘gaathi’ as they are flied by someone with a great joy.. So if you do so the other one will surely feel bad..Enjoy the fest and let others enjoy too !!
2) If some friend's or even enemy's kite comes to your roof.. give it back or fly it and ask the friend/enemy to give you his.her thread so that you can reconnect his kite with his thread !!
Some Important Definitions !!.. Read the post again after reading them to understand better !
Patang – A kite Is known as a patang in Hindi .
Maanja – The thread by which a kite is flied .
Chadakhdi – A cylindrical shaped object on which the ‘maanja’ is rolled .
Saddi – White coloured thread that is broken easily !! .
Pecha – A pecha is a war between two ‘patangs’ (in the air) by making the threads touch each other in the wind .
Dheel – Leaving the thread and making the ‘patang’ go far in order to make the ‘patang’ go deep in the sky
Kheench – Pulling the thread (Maanja) with a great power in order to make the patang win the war of pechaas .
Gaathi – A thread tied with a stone used to get the kites that are hanging somewhere !
